Unforunately, when faxing these reports, the shaded line item appears black. To correct this issue you will need to replace your internal transaction reports with our External reports (See below for attached). Instructions as follows:

Replacing your Internal Reports with External Reports:

1). Unzip and copy the attached reports. Reports Included:
- rptQuote.rpt ... Sales Quote Report
- rptTransaction.rpt ... Invoice Report
- rptTransactionReceipt.rpt ... Receipt of Goods Report
- rptTansactionSalesOrder.rpt ... Sales Order Report
- tr1.rpt ... Purchase Order Report

2). From your SIMMS Startpage, select "Setup".

3). Select "Settings".

4). Select "Global Settings".

5). Select the "Reporting" Tab.

6). Enable "Use External Editable Reports Instead of Internal Reports".

7). Access your SIMMS Reports directory by selecting the blue Hyperlink, located directly below your "External Reports" Setting. Path: C:/Program Files/KCSI/SIMMS/rpt

8). Select "Save" in your Global Settings to commit your changes.

Please contact our Support Staff if you require further assistance.

SIMMS 7.3.4 Released

SIMMS Inventory Software Version 7.3.4 has been released

Release Notice: Version 7.3.2, 7.3.4 were released two weeks apart. Now when they are filled the alert goes away.

Branch Management

Case#3858 - If the branch management was not completely setup we have added a warning message displayed when you log in to the Database telling the user to finish setting up the branch management.

Installation

We have changed the installation site in order to make the installation easier, now pick the option that applies to you and either run the small setup file or download and run on your computer, the installer will download and install only what your computer needs to operate SIMMS. Please make sure to pick the right installation option (descriptions are self explanatory)

Item Manager

Case#3843 - Price levels function enhancement, before this release you can set SIMMS to use % markup price level pricing or $ price levels globally however there was no way to assign % markup price level pricing for some items and fixed $ price levels for other items. Now you can... just select the item you wish to use $price levels for and uncheck the %price level option and now that selected item uses $ Price levels

Note if person opts to copy the %markup pricing for all items, items in same category or sub category then any item with a fixed $ price level will not be changed because if the item is $ price levels then the user clearly does not want % price levels for the item to be copied over

Case# 3738 – We have added the ability to assign as many category/subcategories to an item as you wish, this is handy for example if you are in the auto parts industry and a washer may work for a Dodge and GM (2 categories for 1 item) and need to be able to assign that part to more then one category. In order to do this we had to change the category / subcategory functionality a bit.

We have combined Category and Subcategory setup into one menu option under setup called Categories and Subcategories

The Categories are created in this new screen quite easily, at the top of the form on the left you will find an option called “drag new category/subcategory” just select this option and drag it below in the grid where you wish to add your new category or subcategory, then type in the name for the addition.

The new category screen will also illustrate how many items are currently assigned to the categories along with the auto generated SKU created from the SKU manager where used.

In the Item manager you still have to assign a default category just like before and to create a new category on the fly just click the ... to the right of the default category field

In the advanced tab of the item manager you will notice a new section called category subcategory assigned, here you can see what you currently have assigned to the item, you can also click the clear link to wipe out the association, and to modify the categories, just click the ... on the bottom left of the new object.

When you click the ... you will find the following screen open, just put a check mark in the select column to the right of the category and/or subcategories you wish to assign to the item then click save and close.

Kitting (BOM)

Case#3795 – Before this release if you assign default locations to the items and if the item is a component of a phantom kit, when you insert the phantom that uses another default location the components all get inserted using that same location and not the default locations assigned to them. Now we have added a new setting to global settings in the Kit (BOM) tab: “Use default item location for phantom kits” When checked, the phantom item location will use the default assigned to the component.

NOTE: if the component doesn't have a default location assigned the system will use the phantom kit assigned location.

Case#3841 – We have enhanced the process of adding components to kit schema's, before this release in order to add items as components to a kit schema, you had to click new component, search for an item select it and insert it one by one, but what if you have to add a whole category of items? If there are say 20 – 30 items to be added to a schema from a single category it takes too long. We have added the ability to insert whole category of items and even cherry pick items from a category giving you the ability to insert more then one item into a kit schema at once.

All you have to do is select the kit, then click add Category, then verify the items you wish to insert “deselect the items you don't wish to insert” then click return selection to insert the selected items from the category into the kit schema.

Case#3784 – We have added the item UPC field to the Kit build queue screen.

Case#3842 / 3848 – We have added a couple of extra user rights related to kitting and kitting project management, “Access to book time” and “access to book time rate/total”.
"Access to book time" Allows you to book time but does not show labour rates and you can't print the project detail report, also time booked is not reflected in the cost totals for the user with no permissions..
"Access to book time rate/total" allows you to book time and see labour rates ** Must also have Access to book time checked of" All info including labour total labour costs show in reports

Case 3844 – In Kit project management we have added the ability to enter Contractor Job bills, In order to add contractor bills to projects we had to modify the design of the project management detail screen adding tabs in order to keep the cost types separate, we also link vendor invoice entries to the manual vendor invoice screen enabling the user to associate an invoice from a project and stage to a vendor payable, by using this new feature the contractor bills will show in the Vendor Invoice tab of the project detail screen.

We have added a new grid to the project management screen that shows the contractor bills, also from this new grid you can enter new bills and when you enter the bills they show up as new manual vendor invoices automatically. The new grid will have to display the vendor (contractor) the date of the invoice, invoice number and price.

<span style="font-family: times new roman; When user selects this report you have the following option available:

date filter - just final

extra options - just summary

Foreign currency – select the currency you wish to report on.

The report looks like new Vendor Aged Detail (case2421) but landscape and with amounts in selected currency

Case#2839 – We have fixed an issue where when voiding an invoice the software creates the appropriate credit memo but does not apply the credit on the sale therefore leaving the sale with an unpaid balance although it has been voided.

Case# 2101 – We have added a Multi-Currency payment option (Advanced Payment link) to AR, it works similar to how this feature works in the quick payment screen.

Contact Management Enhancements
Case# 2978 – From the customer detail tab you can see transaction details along with the item information, we have added another column that shows the manufacturer lot related to the line items as well if used.

Case# 1602 – Customer Warranty functionality – We have added a warranty tab to the contact management screen where if the client type for the selected customer = customer will have several fields for you to utilize including the following new fields: Serial Number, Item Code, Item Description, Dealer, Dealer Invoice No., Date Manufactured, Date Purchased, Warranty Expired, UDF1, UDF2, UDF3, UDF4, UDF5, UDF6, UDF7, UDF8. The way this screen works is;

a Serial Number is selected from list of invoiced items.

Item Code is linked from serial number and is read-only.

Item Description is linked from Item Code and is read-only.

Dealer is the customer name linked to the issue of the serial number.

Dealer Invoice No. is a free text field.

Date Manufactured and Date Purchased are date fields.

Warranty Expired is a check-box with a date field to record the expired date.

UDF1 and UDF2 are free text fields.

UDF2 to 8 are date fields.

Labels for the following fields are user defined: Dealer, Dealer Invoice No. Date Manufactured, Date Purchased, UDF1 to 8.

Serial number is validated from serial number table. This is for parts ordering.

When a service PO or a parts PO is created, create a note in the Warranty tab, notes section of the related customer. In the subject of the note include the warranty incident #, the PO # and the vendor name. Also, allow the PO to open by clicking a button or double clicking the note record.

Fulfillment Enhancements
Case# 2778 – We have fixed an issue where Sales orders were still listing in fulfillment after being invoiced.

General SIMMS System Enhancements
Case# xxxx - 64-bit (x64) Systems now fully supported with SIMMS Software, we now have new installers available that support not only running SIMMS in x64 mode but SQL Express x64 and other pre-requisites. Now if you use an alternate unit of measurement in a sales or purchasing transaction you can click the markup link to override the calculated Unit of Measurement calculation for the selected line item.
The modified values will then show on the applicable transaction report illustrating the unit of measurement conversion and factoring.

Item Management Enhancements
Case# 2907 – We fixed an issue where if you make a change in the Unit of Measure relationships, the change does not take effect on the item manager for "Default Purchase UM".

Case#2629 – We have enhanced the inventory return feature found under Modules> Sales> Inventory Return to not allow non-stock items to be selected.

Kitting (BOM) Enhancements
Case# 2650 – New Kitting Module - We have taken years of requests and re-written the kitting module from scratch, providing more functionality, and allowing for quicker entry, for more information refer to the kitting module document attached to this article.

NOTICE: if you use the kitting module review the Kitting module document associated to this article prior to upgrading, this module has completely changed, training in this new module can be purchased by contacting sales@kcsi.ca.

Case# 2169 – kitting Advanced Item look-up - We have added the advanced item search screen to the kit schema and kit building screen so you can easily find and add items to your schema or kit build on the fly.

Case#2503 – Purchased Kit Disassembly – now you can disassemble not only kits you built but kits you purchased as well using the defined schema as a guide the system will un-build a purchased kit into components for you to use later on.

Case#2840 – Kit Labour Tracking - We have added the ability to track detailed labour costs related to each kit/sub-kit build by logging the employee and time spent daily on a kit build, the system will then keep track in the system the cost of the labour based on the employee's salary entered in SIMMS, more then one entry may be made by many employees for one kit/sub-kit so the time should auto increment, track and log the time x rate for each employee = labour cost associated to the kit/sub-kit so when the sub-kit is built the labour cost gets added to the finished kit cost, for more information refer to the kitting module document associated to this article.

CASE-2844 – Kit Scheduling from Sales Order- We have added a simple kit schedule screen where you can see all kits & sub-kits that have been started and not completed along with the date they were started, required date from sales order along with the sales order number. if you click on a kit in this schedule and click proceed you will be taken to the kit build screen.

When adding a kit item to a sales order and if the stock is insufficient and alert pops up indicating the stock issue, if you opt to put on back order a new pop up will appear option to add the kit to a kit build Queue, if you select this option the qty on the sales order will be backordered and this process will have added the item to the kit build schedule to be completed, this assures the people in the plant don't forget to start a kit build due to the fact that it will have already been started in the system.

From the kit build queue screen (Modules, Kits, Build Queue Menu option) you can see the information related to the kit requirement from the order number, due date, required items with qty, kit build progress thus far, and much more,

You can drill down to the sales order to review details

You can drill into the kit building screen in order to complete the required build

Case#2939 – Last Cost option – We have enhanced kitting so if you have the "Update when last cost is changing" global setting flag enabled the standard cost will reflect the last kit build cost for the selected item

Case#2899 – Kitting reports – We have added additional kit building reports to the Kitting module;
Pick List Report – A pick list report is now available from right side of the kit building screen showing all items you indicated in the building screen that you wish to utilize in the kit build

Kit listing report generator – from both the kitting reports menu and a print button at the top of the build kit screen you can now choose the following options;
Report on the main kit or sub-kits

Include Booked time in your report

view session History in your report

view serial number information in the report

view component stock allocation information in the report

Purchasing Enhancements
Case# 2752 – We fixed an issue where if you did a full receipt against a PO, then opened receipt to deleted one line item off receipt, saved the receipt again then opened the original PO the qty's were still listing as fully received.

Case #2587 – We fixed an issue where the contact Phone and fax #''s that are on the PO screen were correct but when you print the PO it defaults back to the companies phone and fax number's instead of the company contact phone and fax numbers.

Case#2953 – We have fixed an issue where when you click the details button when reviewing the receipt and Purchase Order summaries from the Vendor detail screen you get an error, now it drills down to the related transaction.

Quickbooks Link Enhancements
Case# 2943 - With the SIMMS Inventory Software Quickbooks Link Canadian Quickbooks is now supported using the latest Quickbooks SDK7, QuickBooks 2008 & 2009 premier or Pro edition (SIMMS Supports the Canadian and U.S. versions of Quickbooks) You must have the quickbooks SDK 7.0 (QBSDK70.exe) installed prior to using the SIMMS QuickBooks Link.

Reporting Enhancements
Case# 2811- We have enhanced the Item reorder requirement report (rptreorderpoint.rpt) it used to display qty's in std units, but the item reorder points configuration and Reordering PO are both driven by Default Purchase UM, this can be confusing when looking at reorder requirements so we added a U/M field and changed to reflect the default purchase Unit of measurement in this report.

Case# 2733 - We have enhanced the Manufacturer lot report generator to not only report on manufacturer lots in stock but also lots issued out of stock so you know where the lots went.

Case# 2538 – We have enhanced the Transaction Summary Report to also include “Kit” activity and “Adjustments” in both the Received and Issued columns.

Case# 2963 – We have updated the Report descriptions in the custom report export screen in order to make this screen more user friendly.

Case# 2828 – We have added the Due Date field to the Sales order and Sales order Picking sheet reports.

Replenishment Module Enhancements
Case# 2942 – we fixed an issue where when you attempted to filter the results in the replenishment module grid by vendor> start typing vendor name and drop down field does not auto filter...same results for item category and order number.

Case#2841 – Kit components option – Now in the replenishment module if you have backordered kits from Sales orders you have the ability to display and order the component shortages,

just click explode all levels under the kits schema option and hit query data and the components show in the list.

If you click include sib-kits in option 2 the replenishment module will add sub-kit components required to the po's generated

if you click include master kit in the selections options the replenishment module will also include the main kit item in the po's required.

Case#2841 – RFQ option – We have added the ability to Send required items from the Replenishment module direct to the RFQ module in order to process RFQ Requests, this option will send the selected items to RFQ creating a new rfq with the default vendors already selected with the items, this way all the user has to do is add more vendors to the rfq, pick and choose to give them a chance to quote as well and submit to the vendors, this assures you get the best possible price for the items before awarding and generating po's there is also a new column in the replenishment module indicating if items have been sent to rfq for quoting or not so you know you have already sent
items off to the rfq process.

RFQ Module Enhancements
Case# 2859 – We have added two columns in the Vendor Submission Page to display both Item Quantity and Item Code.

Case# 2860 – We have added the ability to print RFQ Vendor Response pages. ie, where you view and award RFQ submissions.

Case# 2842 – We have added the ability to select an alternate assigned Unit of measure for items that use more then one when requesting an rfq. Note this Unit of measure shows on the vendor web submission form as well.

Sales Enhancements
Case# 2803 – We have added the ability display backordered items in an invoice with there price in order to bill the customer regardless of the fact that the item was backordered, to enable this feature proceed to the sales tab of the global settings screen and enable the following flag (“Back Order items have value on Invoices”), once done your invoices will display a value for backordered items.

Serial number / Warranty Enhancements
Case# 2960 – We have fixed an issue where warranty information would change back to 0 on all invoices on items that had warranty information entered.

Case#2807 We have added a new option giving you the ability to edit the serial number table should you end up with a serial number / item miss match, or wish to do some serial number maintanence you can edit the serial number table direct in the inventory, serial numbers, assign serial numbers to stock items menu option, from this area you can add or delete serial numbers

Case#2922 We have fixed an issue where if you create a transfer transaction , choose a serialized item with qty=1, assign SN, for example s0001 for this item and Save this transfer, then, delete this transfer rolling back the stock, the system wouldn't let you pick that replaced serial number in another transfer document.

Case#2863 – We have added a new option to the serial number screen (bottom right) where you can enter the first serial number in a series and indicate the qty then generate and it will auto increment and generate your serial numbers in sequence. Note: in order to enable this option you must go to the advanced tab of global settings and enable the option “Generate Barcodes using the first Serial number and quantity”

Case#2692 Add the ability to link the mfg lot to serial numbered items, we added 1 more unique field to the SN table to provide the mfg lot number this way you can associate a unique mfg lot to all serial numbers when receiving.

For those companies that require controlled consistency with mfg lot numbers used we have also added a mini project number configuration screen with 2 fields where you can add / remove codes & short 125 character descriptions to each code, this information will populate a new optional drop-down available in the PO & receipt detail transaction screen, so when inserting a line item if you select this optional drop-down you will see the available codes and descriptions you defined so you can pick one, once selected that code will get copied into the “Manu. Lot” field so when the line item is inserted it has the correct mfg lot number with no variations for consistency.

For those people that require additional comment information associated to serialized items we have added a new menu option (Inventory/serial numbers/search serial number and edit comments menu option) where you can search for a serial number by typing in a s/n or usr s/n or mfg lot then the results would show in a grid just like the serial number manager grid where you can add or edit the new comment field we have added to the serial number tables. This new field also shows in the kit detail build report.

Shipping Manager Enhancements
Case# 2976 – Now if you disable the “Use AutoShip for invoices” flag in the Automation tab of global settings the default for the “Bypass Shipping Manager” flag in sales transactions will be off meaning you are indicating you wish to use the shipping manager by default for your transactions.

Case# 2977 - Verify shipping status when invoicing – Now when you ship a sales order and if you don't opt to invoice from the shipping manager in order to invoice at a later time, SIMMS know remembers when you go to invoice the sales order afterwards to indicate the shipping status as shipped.

Windows Mobile (Data Collector) Enhancements
Case# 2808, 2784 – We have added a field to the SIMMS Data Collector Sync Grid for serial numbers, so now you can see the serial numbers assigned to the transaction prior to verifying the sync.

Case# 2448 – We have added the document number field to the data collector invoice screen

Need The Contact info so i can to talk to the rep

Our contact information can be found at: http://www.kcsi.ca/contactus.htm For example, due dates between A and B for vendor C. This functionality allow the user to 'select all' and 'select none', as they will have thousands of a/p documents and do not want to have to spend the time checking off all the invoices for payment.

Barcoding Enhancements

Case# 2697 - We have fixed an issue where you were unable to print barcode labels to the printer label type LP2844, you were able to choose from his printer list in the BarCode Manager, Select's label size, adds items, however when you click View/Print you would receive an "Incorrect Settings" Error Message

Data Collector Enhancements

Case# 2519 - We have fixed an issue were in some situations you would get an error attempting to sync to the device from the desktop.

Case# 2716 - We have fixed an issue were as a result of the transfer screen modifications in SIMMS the Windows Mobile program couldn't sync Transfer's completed on the device back to SIMMS.

General Ledger Enhancements

Case# 2527 - We have fixed an issue where you would get an error when generating "Daily Transaction" Report

General System Enhancements

Case# 2633 - We have fixed an issue where when creating new company from existing database, users aren't carrying over.

Case# 2450 - We have added a Global Setting "update standard price with actual cost" this option will update the standard Price field to be equal to the Costing Method...ie, User would Like they're Std Price field to be Updated with they're Weighted Average Cost... WAC changes for an item or if they are using fifo the standard price displayed will reflect the fifo.

Inventory Return Enhancements

Case# 2702 - We have fixed an issue where you would receive a "Select Item" message as soon as you open Inventory Return

Item Manager Enhancements

Case# 2371 - We have added a new Vendor Catalogue option to SIMMS in order to accommodate the needs of customers managing over 900,000 items in the item manager causing performance issues. These items are not actually all stocked items. They are mostly vendor catalogued items. Maybe around 50,000 are actually stocked. The solution to managing these unstocked items was to create a vendor catalogue in SIMMS.

The new catalogue option works as follows. When new vendor catalogues are received, use the Visual Import Manager to import the new records and update existing records that will be inserted/updated into a new table for Vendor Catalogues. The sales rep would follow the process. Open an quote or sales order. Click on the Enhanced Find feature and enter criteria to look for the item. If no records are found in the item manager, automatically search for the same criteria in the Vendor Catalogue table. The user can then select from the results and click an Insert button. This will insert the new item into the item manager, then take the item code and insert that into the quote or sales order.

Case# 2642 - We have enhanced the item catalogue fixing an issue where when building a new PO and using the Enhanced Search window to pull up my Catalog items there was a problem when you retrieve a new catalog item. The first time the item was retrieved the system was only pulling the cost over and not showing the item.
